University of Manitoba is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow (PDF) (initially for one year, with a possible extension up to four years) with exceptional academic standing to study the socio-economic impacts in the event of oil spills in ice infested waters due to Arctic shipping.
Under the supervision of the Director of the Transport Institute of the Asper School of Business of the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, MB, Canada (UMTI), the successful candidate will be working as part of an internationally renowned team of researchers as part of a recently funded four-year Genome Canada large scale project, entitled “GENICE: Microbial Genomics for Oil Spill Preparedness in Canada’s Arctic Marine Environment”. In addition, he/she will be working in other selected projects and activities conducted by the Director, staff, and/or students of UMTI.
Applicants must have a PhD and extensive research experience in one or more of the following areas: economics and econometrics, geography, environmental studies, transportation, management science, engineering, and/or other social sciences. Competency and experience on the development and application of quantitative research techniques is essential. Experience in research related to the Arctic and/or socio-economic impacts will be an asset.
