Dr. Pierre CARIOU is Full Professor in Maritime and Port Economics at Kedge Business School (France) and Adjunct Professor at World Maritime University (Sweden). He was Professor at the World Maritime University from 2004 to 2010. He started his academic carrier in 2001-2004 as an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Economics at the University of Nantes (France). He is a member of KEDGE Supply Chain Center of Excellence (CESIT), Visiting Research Scholar at Cornell University (2021-2022), a member of the KLU Centre in Global Shipping & Logistics, and a founding member of PortEconomics.eu. He is former Vice-President of the International Association of Maritime Economists (IAME) and a Board member of the French Merchant Marine Academy (ENSM). Pierre completed his PhD in 2000 on strategic alliances in liner shipping at the University of Nantes and at Erasmus University of Rotterdam. He received the 2018 best paper Prize (IAME Conference in Mombasa), the 2006 best Runner Up paper prize (IAME conference in Melbourne), and the 1997-2001 Maritime Economics and Logistics/Palgrave-MacMillan best PhD price in 2001 (IAME conference in Panama City). His main research interests are on shipping/port economics, maritime safety and marine environmental protection, topics on which he published more than 80 academic papers. Pierre also contributed to many consultancy projects for private companies (SKS Tanker, Louis Dreyfus Armateurs, SOCATRA, Casino Group, CMA CGM, NATEXIS bank…), and for public organizations (French Parliament and Government, Port Authorities of Nantes or Marseille-Fos, International Maritime Organization, OECD…).

Dr. Peggy Shu-Ling CHEN, Associate Professor, is the Director of the Centre for Maritime and Logistics Management, Australian Maritime College, University of Tasmania. Peggy holds a PhD in Port Management (Cardiff University, UK), an MBA (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium), and a Bachelor of Public Finance (National Cheng-Chi University, Taiwan). In her earlier career, she worked for different sectors in Taiwan, including Customs, banking, and tertiary education. Peggy’s research expertise is in port management including port governance, climate change impacts on ports, port sustainability, regional ports and regional development, and dry ports management. She has also undertaken research in supply chain management related to the perishable food industry, blue economy and renewable energy.  She is an Editorial Board member of two international journals the Asian Journal of Shipping and Logistics and Maritime Business Review, and the Editor of Journal of e-Navigation and Maritime Economy. Peggy is also a member of the Port Performance Research Network (PPRN) and the International Forum of Climate Change and Adaptation Planning for Ports, Transport Infrastructures, and the Arctic (CCAPPTIA). Peggy has been an IAME member since 2010 and currently is IAME Council member.

Dr. Cassia GALVAO holds a Ph.D. in Social Sciences from the Catholic University of Sao Paulo. Her research focuses on themes of Port Development and Maritime Logistics. While developing her academic career, she has worked for the private sector and has 10+ years of experience in Marketing & Sales at multiple international container liners and freight forwarders. She is a Fulbright Alumni and serves as a member of the Port and Channels committee of the Marine Group at TRB/NAS (Transportation Research Board). She is currently a tenure-track faculty member at the Department of Maritime Business Administration of Texas A&M University at Galveston. Her research covers applied research in niche topics in international maritime shipping and issues in port governance, regulation, and policy. Presently she is working on research projects involving the port-city relationship, maritime education and sustainability in the context of Blue Economy.”

Manolis KAVUSSANOS is Professor at Athens University of Economics and Business(AUEB), Greece. He is founder and Director of the MSc program in International Shipping, Finance and Management and the Laboratory with the corresponding name at AUEB. He has been for 5 years Director of the MSc and PhD programs in Accounting and Finance at AUEB. He co-launched and Directed the MSc in Trade, Logistics and Finance at Bayes Business School-London, until joining AUEB.  He is elected vice-president of the Hellenic Association of Maritime Economists, Council member of IAME, of the BoD of the Institute of History of Commercial Shipping, member of editorial boards of major international scientific journals, and of award committees for prestigious academic and professional prizes/scholarships, including Onassis foundation. He has been recipient of teaching awards at Bayes and AUEB, best research-paper awards; and Propontis foundation post-doc academic scholarship. He has held posts as professor of finance and shipping in universities in several countries around the world, such as UK, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Greece and Cyprus. He has provided consultancy services to private companies, national and international organizations, organized international scientific conferences, published extensively in international scientific journals, conference proceedings and books. His work gained awards for its quality, financed by public and private sector organizations, companies and foundations and has received thousands of citations. Since 1992 he has worked in developing the area of risk analysis and management in shipping and is co-author of four books in this area and shipping finance.

Dr. Joanna KIZIELEWICZ, Associate Professor – Professor’s degree in the field of economics (2017 – University of Szczecin); Ph. D. in the field of management (2001 – University of Warmia & Mazury in Olsztyn) and Postgraduate Studies in Modern Ship Management (2016 – Gdynia Maritime University). Vice-Dean for Development & Cooperation (from 2019) and the Head of Department of Management & Economics (2019-2021) at Gdynia Maritime University (GMU) in Poland. 27 years of experience in research studies and teaching regarding: cruising industry, sustainable development of cruise seaports, infrastructural investments in coastal cities, management policy of cruise shipping companies, and the strategy for regional development. An ERASUMS lecturer at Universities in Cork (Ireland), Perugia (Italy), Dubrovnik (Croatia), and La Coruña (Spain). A lead organizer of the workshop on ”Maritime Education – Maritime Tourism – Maritime Innovation” at European Maritime Day 2013 in Valletta (Malta), organised by the European Commission (2013). Awarded by the Rector of GMU for scientific, organizational and didactic achievements (9 times), Received Best Poster Award of TransNav 2013 – 10th Jubilee International Conference on Marine Navigation and Safety of Sea Transportation. Awarded by: the Minister of Sport and Tourism (2014) – Honorary Badge “For merits for tourism”, the Ministry of National Education (2014) – the Medal of the National Education Commission as well as the Minister of Infrastructure (2015) – the Bronze Cross of Merit and also the President of the Republic of Poland (2015) – Silver medal for long-term service. A member of professional bodies and academic associations: IAME, International Association of Scientific Experts in Tourism, Polish Economic Society, and Polish Nautical Association. The author and coordinator of 10 EU projects and almost 100 research papers in maritime economics including three monographs. CEO of Education Project Ltd. and CEO of EDUSTAR Training and Consulting Centre (2003 – 2012).

Dr. Jasmine Siu Lee LAM is Professor and Centre Director, Maritime Energy and Sustainable Development Centre of Excellence at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. She has been invited by many organisations as a keynote speaker, chair and panelist at international conferences and seminars. Leading a research team and working closely with the industry and government agencies, Jasmine has completed over 65 R&D projects. She is an active scholar having more than 310 technical publications, including 139 papers in leading international journals such as in International Journal of Production Economics, Journal of Cleaner Production, OMEGA, Transportation Research Parts A, B, D, E, Transport Reviews, and Transportation Science. In terms of professional service and leadership, she serves as the editor/board member of 10 international journals, including as an Associate Editor of Maritime Policy & Management and Transportation Research Part D. Jasmine is also a passionate mentor who promoted 10 PhD graduates as their sole supervisor, and currently supervising several post-doctoral fellows, 6 PhD candidates, and many other researchers at NTU. She has also chaired many PhD students’ examination panel, acted as an examiner and advisory committee member of other 25+ PhD students. She holds several prestigious international appointments, such as Expert Advisor to governments, steering committee member, Global Maritime Technology Cooperation Centres Network Stakeholders’ Committee member, invited by International Maritime Organization. She is also the recipient of many awards, including the National Day Honours awarded by the President of Singapore, 8 times Best Paper Awards, Eagle Prize, and Erasmus Mundus Scholars Award. Jasmine was a Council Member of the International Association of Maritime Economists (2014-2020, completed maximum term of 6 years) and will be pleased to serve the IAME community again.

Dr. Elizabeth LINDSTAD has long experience in developing, initiating, and managing research and development projects with a focus on sustainable shipping solutions, new innovative vessel designs and supply chains. She has been a co-author, of EU & IMO policy studies. Member of the European Sustainable Shipping Forum (ESSF), consisting of representatives from the European shipping sector and national representatives since it was established in 2013. Ability to combine naval architecture, technical knowledge, and economics with LCA knowledge as demonstrated through doctoral thesis: Strategies and measures for reducing maritime CO2 emissions. Elizabeth worked the first ten years after graduation within the manufacturing industry and the transport sector, in management positions within quality, production, purchasing, and logistics. Fellow of SNAME from 2017 (The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers). Chief Scientist in SINTEF Ocean from 2019.

Dr. Theo NOTTEBOOM (°1970) is Professor in maritime and port economics and management. He is Chair Professor at the Maritime Institute of Ghent University, Professor at the Faculty of Business and Economics of University of Antwerp and Antwerp Maritime Academy in Belgium, and visiting research Professor at Shanghai Maritime University in China. He previously worked at Shanghai Maritime University and Dalian Maritime University in China. He is co-director of Porteconomics.eu and member of the Risk and Resilience Committee of International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH). He is Associate Editor of Maritime Economics & Logistics (MEL) and a member of the editorial boards of eight other leading academic journals in the field. Theo Notteboom is an active member of IAME since 1998. He was IAME President between 2010 and 2014. Theo and his family live in the Belgian port city of Antwerp.

Geoffrey Ngombo MWANGO is a Maritime Economist who has undergone vast training in Maritime affairs, Port, Shipping and Transport Management in Western Europe, Scandinavia, Asia and the Mediterranean. He is a Maritime Consultant; a trained shipping specialist; and an educationist of repute with over 20 years’ experience in Port, Shipping & Transport Management. He is a founder director of the Shipping and Transport College of East Africa based in Mombasa.  Geoffrey is currently pursuing a PhD in International Economics with Moi university. He holds a Master of Science degree in Shipping and Transport from the Netherlands Maritime University tutored both in South Korea & The Netherlands; a Postgraduate Diploma programmes in: Shipping from the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS – UK); Port, Shipping & Transport Management from the International Maritime Transport Academy (IMTA), Rotterdam, The Netherlands; and Business Management from the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM); and a bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics from Egerton University, Kenya. He is a solution-oriented expertise who thrives well in challenging fast paced environment where performance directly impacts the bottom line with accomplishments are several years of productive regional trade facilitation; with a track record of success in leading diverse teams of value-added operations. He was the Chairman, of the Board of Directors of Kenya Maritime Authority. He is also a lecturer and coordinator of maritime and logistics studies at Moi University, Kenya both at under/postgraduate levels. He is a member of ICS-UK; and (IAME).

Dr. Harilaos N. PSARAFTIS is a Professor at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Department of Technology, Management and Economics. He has a diploma from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) (1974), and two M.Sc. degrees (1977) and a Ph.D. (1979) from MIT, USA. He has been Assistant and Associate Professor at MIT from 1979 to 1989 and Professor at NTUA from 1989 to 2013.  His interests are in maritime logistics, port logistics, and green logistics. He has participated in some 55 research projects, of which 25 from the EU. He has been a member and chairman of various groups at the International Maritime Organization (IMO), and has also served as CEO of the Piraeus Port Authority (1996 -2002). He has published extensively and has received several academic and industry awards. His latest book is entitled “Sustainable Shipping: A Cross-Disciplinary View”, Springer (2019).

Dr. Theodoros SYRIOPOULOS is Professor of Shipping Finance, at the Ports Management & Shipping Dpt., School of Economics & Political Sciences, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the first historical, highly prestigious, and globally top-ranking academic institution in Greece.  Prof. Syriopoulos also holds adjunct visiting posts in international and domestic Schools, including Audencia Business School, Nantes, France; Newcastle University, UK; Shanghai Maritime University, China; Law School of Athens; and, Athens University of Economics and Business, inter alia. Prior to that and for two decades, Theodoros Syriopoulos served as Professor of Finance, at Shipping, Trade and Transport Dpt., School of Business Studies, University of the Aegean. Before joining academia, Prof. Syriopoulos has held top executive management posts in banking, investment, asset management, corporate finance, and consulting business.  Prof. Syriopoulos publishes regularly in accredited international financial journals, as well as in edited volumes and books on topics of shipping and finance. Research fields of interest with a focus on shipping finance include applied corporate financial management; global capital markets and portfolio management; mergers & acquisitions; financial derivatives and risk management; corporate governance, social responsibility, ESG and green finance. Prof. Syriopoulos has gained extensive experience in research programs and executive education, as an academic director and organizer of executive and e-learning programs. Apart from an active IAME member, Prof. Syriopoulos is a member of international academic and professional bodies and associations, including the European Finance Association; American Finance Association; European Financial Management Association; Multinational Finance Society; Hellenic Association of Maritime Economists; Hellenic Finance and Accounting Association; Hellenic Economic Chamber of Commerce; Federation of Institutional Investors; Federation of European Stock Exchanges; International Money-Laundering Committee. Prof. Syriopoulos holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. Diploma in Applied Economics from the University of Kent at Canterbury, UK; and, a B.A. Diploma in Economics from the University of Piraeus, Greece.

Dr. Larissa VAN DER LUGT is working for more than 20 years as a researcher at Erasmus University. I’m specializing in port and transport economics, port strategy, port management, port performance, and port governance. Since I started working at Erasmus in 2001, She is an active member of IAME and an active member of the PPRN, the Port Performance Research Network (PPRN), that acts under the umbrella of IAME. Being part of these networks has been an important factor in her development as a researcher. Further contributing to it is one of Larissa’s aims. Since 2020 she is a Council member of IAME, and has proved that she can do so. Today she would like to continue that contriution to the maritime community. In 2021, Larissa was the Conference Chair for the Rotterdam IAME Conference that we were able to organize amidst the Covid pandemic. It was great that we could do this for the whole IAME community. Further on my position: since 2015, sh is the Director of the Erasmus Centre for Urban, Port and Transport Economics (Erasmus UPT). This centre is an independent research institute of the Erasmus University Rotterdam with a focus on ports, transport and logistics, urban economics and mobility. She is also the Academic Director of Erasmus Universities’ MSc program Maritime Economics and Logistics (MEL). In her research, advisory and educational work she combines her knowledge of the port and maritime industries with academic knowledge and research skills, applying this to the relevant and actual research themes. Ideally, she is doing that in cooperation with other researchers, both at national and international levels.

Dr. Dong YANG is now an Associate Professor/Associate Head of the Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies, Deputy Director of Shipping Research Centre, at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is Associate Editor of the International Journal of Shipping and Transport Logistics (IJSTL), Maritime Business Review (MBR) and THE MARITIME Economist. He also acted as Guest Editor of several prestigious journals including Transportation Research Part E, Transport Policy, Maritime Policy & Management, and Journal of Advanced Transportation. Dr. YANG is Council Member of International Associate of Maritime Economist (IAME). He was Programme Chair of the 27th IAME Conference, Hong Kong (IAME 2020) and the Co-Chair of the 10th and 11st International Forum on Shipping, Ports and Airports (IFSPA 2019 and 2021). Dr. YANG obtained his PhD majoring in maritime logistics science from Kobe University (Japan) in 2008. After that, he has successively served as assistant professor at Southern University of Denmark, research fellow at National University of Singapore, senior research fellow at China Waterborne Transport Research Institute. Meanwhile, he was the head of project section at APEC Port Services Network, a regional organization aiming at promoting APEC port development. In Dr. YANG’s previous career, he has chaired fundings from various sources, including ESCAP of United Nations, APEC Transportation Working Group, National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), Hong Kong Research Grants Council (RGC), Hong Kong Policy Research Fund (PPR), Hong Kong Marine Department, Hong Kong Tourism Commission and etc. He has published more than 50 SCI/SSCI papers in international academic journals including Transportation Research Part A, B, E and D, Transport Reviews, Journal of Transport Geography, Transportation Science, Transport Policy, Maritime Policy & Management, Maritime Economics & Logistics, Accident Analysis & Prevention, Ocean Engineering, Journal of Navigation, Research in Transportation Business & Management and etc.
